Our Mission & Values
Cat Tail Farms Feline Sanctuary is a nonprofit, volunteer-staffed, cage-less and no-kill feline sanctuary dedicated to providing a loving home to homeless, abused, and abandoned feral and stray cats from various communities throughout Michigan, especially those that test positive for felv or fiv and would otherwise be killed.
Volunteers strive to fulfill the Sanctuary's Mission by performing the following seven functions:
- (1) management and maintenance of a safe and secure shelter for feral and stray cats;
- (2) provision of proper medical treatment and care;
- (3) administration of a sterilization program in order to control problems associated with feline over-population;
- (4) implementation of a "re-socialization" program, whereby, the cats learn to accept and trust human contact;
- (5) education of the community about proper feline care, behavior, and ways to prevent cruelty and neglect;
- (6) locating loving and caring life-long homes for adoptable cats-in-residence;
- (7) the establishment of partnerships with other animal rescue groups in order to increase access to resources and to provide information and referral support regarding feline rescue.
The Sanctuary does not currently receive any township, city, or government financial support. It operates solely on the kindness of contributions from individuals as well as various fundraising events.
